Bulabos – Top Winning Kennel for Long Hair Saint Bernard’s for 2012

Posted on Monday, December 31st, 2012

It was another fantastic year for us in the show ring.  Once again we are the top winning kennel for Long Hair Saint Bernard’s for 2012 with our lovely Niamh “IR Ch Islamorada Ruby Tuesday CJW’12, CW’12” taking the title of Annual Champion for 2012 (subject to IKC confirmation) making her Top Winning Long Haired Saint Bernard for 2012.  This is a fantastic achievement more especially for a female Saint. She also took Junior Celtic Winner title AND Adult Celtic Winner title earlier this year.    A huge thank you to all the judges from all different nationalities that looked beyond the fact that she is not the biggest of females and recognised the superior quality of this girl.  She is without doubt the best moving Saint Bernard that has been seen in this country in a long time and she is correct in every way.  Massive thanks to her breeder and our friend Mrs Jackie Jenkins of the Islamorada Kennels in Scotland.  Niamh will be taking some well deserved time off from the show ring in 2013.

Our Bulabos babies Ollie & Poppy made their debut in the ring this year, “Bulabos Sea the Stars Ir Jnr Ch” and “Bulabos Peek A Boo Poppy”. Ollie gained his Junior Champion Title in 2012 and we were over the moon this year at Navan Dog Show when Ollie took green star dog, best of breed and was placed 4th in the group at the age of 10 months.  Poppy is one junior point away from her junior title.

Our beautiful Mia “IR CH, Int CH Islamorada Amazing Grace” was shown very lightly this year and gained her International Title in 2012.  Mia is now retired from the show ring and is kicking back enjoying lazing around at home!

Robbie “IR CH Lanebern Black Magic, IR Jnr CH, CJW’11, CW’12 was also shown very lightly in 2012 both in Ireland and the UK but will be back with a bang in the show ring in 2013 and will be attending Crufts in March and has been invited to participate in Dog of the Year in the UK in February.

Out of 31 all breed championship shows in Irelandfor 2012 we attended 26.  In total for 2012 we took:

28 Green Stars

16 Reserve Green Stars

10 Best of Breeds

18 Reserve Best of Breeds

3 CACIB’s

1 Reserve CC (UK)

2 group placings of 3rd and 4th

We also gained the following Titles in 2012:

Niamh “IR CH Islamorada Ruby Tuesday CJW’12, CW’12” – Annual Champion 2012 (subject to IKC confirmation) Irish Champion, Celtic Junior Winner 2012, Celtic Winner 2012.

Ollie “Bulabos Sea The Stars” – Irish Junior Champion

Mirrac “Opdyke’s Midnight Miracle CW’12” – Celtic Winner 2012.

Mia “IR CH, INT CH Islamorada Amazing Grace” – International Champion

Robbie “IR CH Lanebern Black Magic CJW’11, CW’12” – Celtic Winner 2012.

All in all its been a great year.  Looking forward to 2013 and what it brings.  Another couple of months break and then the madness begins again lol!

The End of Another Year

Posted on Monday, December 31st, 2012

What a year it has been.  We have had a lot of highs with many things to be thankful for but sadly there have been some lows as well.  The loss of our lovely boy Finn “Bernegardens Bad Jack Finn, IR Jnr Ch” is still heavy in our hearts, his final resting place is a lovely spot in our garden which we walk past every day and it will be planted with flowers in spring time so while he may be gone from us his spirit will be with us always.

The biggest high of the past year for us with our dogs has to be the safe arrival of Hemlock & Mirrac’s litter of beautiful puppies.  After the heartbreak of losing her litter in 2011 we were over the moon in November at the safe arrival of seven boys and four girls.  Sadly, one little man passed to Rainbow Bridge but the other six boys and four girls have thrived.   Some of the puppies have started to leave for their new forever homes and we wish them and their new families many years of happiness.

Here’s to 2013 !

R.I.P our sweet boy Finn “Bernegardens Bad Jack Finn” 14/08/2009 – 08/12/2012

dogs_120211-162 It is with heavy hearts that we write this post.  On Saturday evening 8th December we lost the sweetest and softest boy in our kennel.  Our lovely boy Finn left us suddenly for Rainbow Bridge. We are blessed with the comfort that he passed over in our arms.  It was a privilege to have Finn in our lives, even if it was for far too short a time.  He will be missed so much by all of the family and has taken a piece of our hearts with him. He was the one and only Finnerz.  Run free at Rainbow Bridge Finn, be happy. xxx

A ‘SPECIAL PLACE’

You have a special place dear Lord

That I know you will always keep

A special place reserved for dogs

When they quietly fall asleep

With large and airy kennels

And a yard for hiding bones

With maybe a little babbling creek

That chatters over stones

With wide green fields and flowers

Just like the ones he once knew

For running freely under

Your sky of perfect blue

Lord, I know you keep this special place

And so to you I pray

For one Saint Bernard

Who quietly passed today

He was full of strength and love

And so very, very wise

A kind and loving boy

With such softness in his eyes

So speak to Finnerz softly please

And give him a warm hello

He’s a special gift to you dear lord

From all of us, who loved him so

R.I.P. Finnerz xxxx
